During the budget deliberations of a Senate finance subcommittee on the proposed 2027 budget of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Senator Imee Marcos looked for the controversial Zofia Canlas. Canlas is a new commissioner of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor. “May isa pang sikat, eh, akala ko nandito, wala pala. 'Yong namamayagpag sa social media, ‘yong Zofia Canlas. Wala po?” Senator Marcos asked. Senator Risa Hontiveros, who was leading the budget briefing, was seen asking: “Sino ‘yon?” Off mic, Senator Marcos seemed to explain to her colleague the story of Canlas. @here

UPDATE: The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) has denied it is sheltering Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) claimed is hiding in Mindanao under the protection of an armed group. Dela Rosa, who has a pending International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant, has remained out of public view since May.
